I N S P I R A T I O N
Inspired by Rock ‘n’ Roll and a visit to Forever 21, I wanted to make a cross pattern. (I am forever 14, really, but I like to see what the “adults” are up to in the fashions department.)

I like the in-between of Christmas and New Year’s Day. It’s all about bedding-down before the crazy sassy new year arrives. There’s something glimmery and super hopeful about it.
Last year this time we were in Milwaukee, hanging out with family for one more time before our new life in DC started.
Our house was cold and empty but we had Christmas lights strewn about to make it seem less-so. The naked expanse of the hardwood floors made it feel like a dance studio and I treated it that way. We slept on the floor in our bedroom, on just our mattress.
For New Year’s Eve we partied like a bunch of crazed 20-somethings. Everyone gussied-up and we made our way to the local tiki bar to get soused, then we went to the “dance club for weirdos” to get sweaty and scream in 2012. It was awesome.
On January 2nd we left for DC. Mixtured emotions and plenty of growing pains later, we’ve had some great adventures and met amazing people. Looking forward to another year, with more tilt-a-whirl-ness expected :) Enjoy the ride, non? Continue reading »
I have to admit, some elves helped me on this one. I’ve been fighting a sickiness this week so I needed the extra hands.
I think they did pretty well… maybe a little goopy in parts, but for the most part they helped me captured the essence of holly with an ikat flair.
Holly grows all over DC. Something I didn’t realize until we moved here. It likes tropic and subtropic regions the best. Which is why it flourishes here. Continue reading »

This is what I start to look like when someone starts talking to me about fiscal cliffs and Mayan apocalypses. Grrr.
Let’s not be so negative this holiday season, ok? I want joyousness and frivolity and hugging. Yes, the world may be ending but that’s pretty much true for everyone everywhere at some point. Let’s just take care of each other now. Continue reading »
