I N S P I R A T I O N
I originally released this as an iPhone wallpaper, but on a particularly daunting Monday I decided I really needed to see it on my desktop.
I had just finished my big 2013 Calendar project and felt overwhelmed by possibilities of the “what next?” variety.
My enthrallment levels are back up and I gathered a bunch of new inspiration for pretty designs. I’m excited once again! Hurrah!
The quote is from one of my favorite upbeat ladies of the Internet, Marie Forleo. She’s all about doing what you love, feeling good about yourself and knowing it will all be OK if you just act on your drrreams. She also enjoys goofing and dancing. Continue reading »
How’s your December going? Good? I hope so, it just started.
If it’s bad, give it a bit. Take it slow and easy, baby. Listen to some funk on Pandora. It’s an ultimate cure to a bad temper, because you cannot help but make funk face.
When you make funk face, you should always take photos of yourself and then look at them. Continue reading »

We have a posse bonus today, friends! You can download today’s wallpaper WITH a December calendar and also SANS calendar. See it? It’s going to be in the lower left hand corner. (obviously the calendar will be bigger on your background of choosing)
I even have iPad and iPhone versions, with a handy lock screen calendar and home screen. Woo getting coordinated here!
My right hand aches from saving out all these options, so I hope you use them, darnit. :D
I was inspired by some Warhol poinsettias I found on Google, in my search for poinsettia reference materials. I liked the loose interpretation. Here they are, if you want a looksy.
There was a time when I absolutely detested poinsettias so it’s quite a miracle I created this design. Continue reading »

I N S P I R A T I O N
Let’s get WILD, like the holidaze.
I overheard a lady at my Zumba class yesterday. She said how she CAN’T STAND her husband’s family. Her family ~ they’re OK. Her mom drives her nuts. I think she will be having a hard time this weekend.
Thankfully, I love my in-laws. And my mother. Which works out because they are visiting the east coast this weekend!
Mike’s side of the family likes to have really loud meals. That used to jerk my senses around and make me a bit anxious. Well, it still makes me anxious. Only now I PARTICIPATE in the loudness.
You see, when my siblings and I were growing up, my parents believed in something called “the talking feather”. Only that person which holds talking feather gets talking privileges. One person at a time. I was always used to talking-feather style dinners. It was a fun game really. Continue reading »

I N S P I R A T I O N
This one’s inspired by my lovely and talented friend Claudine. She really likes polka dots, I noticed. I wonder if she likes to Polka? I’ll have to ask her or perhaps just start polka-ing around to see if she’ll join in.
I’m so honored with her help and friendship over the past year. We meet every week and talk about hopes and dreams and how to make them real. She’s super determined and I like that.
Know how we met? Through the internet! I posted this tutorial on YouTube about nerding out with patterns and Adobe Illustrator. She really liked it and liked my cat too. I was super happy to help her with her graphic problems.
Then I mentioned I was moving to Washington, DC on Twitter. And then she was all like “OMG! I live here too! Let’s hug!” [not exact quote but sorta close] Continue reading »

There are still pretty flower things popping up around DC, even though it’s getting bitterly cold and a Nor’easter is on the way.
The flowers I see popping up, in reality, look nothing like this design. This design uses a thing called “artistic license” and “inspiration”. I’m sure you’ve heard of it. It’s the freedom to create whatever you damn well please, based off of something you’ve sensed with your sensors… ears, eyes, nose, mouth. Yeah! I hate reality anyway. Continue reading »

Hurricane Sandy passed us by here in our little part of Navy Yard, DC, unscathed.
I can’t believe Mike and I were just in New York last weekend, enjoying the most amazingly beautiful time on the Lower East Side, doing things like drinking tiki drinks TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW at our new fave tiki bar, PKNY. Now it’s all under water, I imagine. :(
I am sending e-hugs and air kisses to all those affected on the east coast. I know so many people have it waaaay worse than us. Hopefully you’re all taking care of each other.
The good thing about situations like this is that you get to know your neighbors and people come together in amazing ways. We used the time to have a hurricane drinking party and have pajama movie screenings in our building. Snuggly. Go America! When the going gets tough, the going gets drunk, snuggly and/or helpful.
