Bichon Frisé!

This dog breed is all about comfort and “bichonner” actually means “to pamper” in French.

They have an interesting rollercoaster history — a real rags to riches to rags to riches story.

They started on sailing ships from the Mediterranean and eventually became popular with royalty who liked to carry the small dogs in baskets.

Royal fashion moved on to other toy breeds so Bichons got pushed out and found new work in the circus as a cute performer.

And today they are a popular breed again!

Another fun note is that Bichons came out of Barbets, which is our Tiki’s breed! (Poodles are also knowns to come out of Barbets. Barbets are an ancient rare breed.)
